Job Description Summary

The Wind Global EHS Governance and Assurance Lead is responsible for the EHS audit and assurance programs across the One Wind organization (Projects, Services, Fixed Facility, and Offices/Engineering). The role will focus on the integrity and effectiveness of the GE Vernova Wind EHS business and corporate assurance standards including alignment with the Global Wind and GE Vernova EHS governance requirements. Additionally, the role will collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage Wind compliance, conformance and ISO certification programs, manage FM Global program requirements for Wind fixed facilities, and support global compliance mapping programs and actions. The role will report to the Wind Global Operations and Center of Excellence EHS Leader and will be responsible for driving excellence across the organization to deliver a robust governance workflow leveraging Lean principles.
This position will also be partnering cross functionally, with both internal and external stakeholders, to ensure all aspects of EHS governance and assurance programs are both implemented and actively utilized to drive sustainable improvement both in the Wind organization and GE Vernova. This includes but is not limited to acting as the subject-matter expert on the EHS operating program (Framework), developing the 3-year assurance plan for the One Wind organization, supporting the annual FM global audits and corrective action items plans in coordination with the fixed facilities teams, coordinating the compliance task program and regulatory dashboard requirements globally with the regional EHS teams, and providing training and coaching to One Wind personnel on EHS audit and assurance roles and responsibilities. Finally, this role will provide input and support the wider Wind EHS team as we work to build one successful GE Vernova team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop EHS governance and assurance strategy and deployment across One Wind.
  • Lead the EHS compliance and conformance assurance program globally, coordinating cross-functionally to drive consistent application and implementation across the business.
  • Work with regional EHS teams to facilitate and update their regulatory profiles and dashboards (e.g., Enhesa)
  • Work with fixed facilities and GEV EHS to coordinate and support the annual FM Global audits and associated action plans
  • Provide support and coaching on ISO certification programs where applicable in Wind and help coordinate certification audits (e.g., ISO 14001)
  • Manage and deliver “train-the trainer” sessions in a variety of formats, for example; both classroom and virtual settings and with simultaneous translators, for audit roles within GEV EHS.
  • Develop and support delivery of GE Vernova Framework requirements to manage conformance to the EHS operating management requirements (e.g., coaching teams on delivering Framework risk assessments, identifying and training sub-element owners, developing gap assessment plans, etc.)
  • Suggest and implement best practice solutions for standardization across One Wind
  • Support the key deliverables and KPIs for the business as it relates to health and safety strategy and effectiveness of the EHS training program.
  • Proactively partner and develop positive working relationships with cross-functional personnel.

Qualifications/Requirements                 

  • 10+ years’ experience with EHS training and strategy programs
  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety or technical equivalent from an accredited college or university, or equivalent qualification
  • Certified Environmental or Health and Safety professional
  • Prior experience in Wind industry and/or energy industry fields
  • Significant EHS governance and assurance experience in a projects/service or fixed facility environment.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 certification and auditing processes
  • Medical fitness and ability to work at height per local and global standards
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems
  • Fluent English with strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience working in or across different GE Vernova businesses
  • Experience working with regulatory compliance systems (e.g., Enhesa, Intelex, etc.)
  • EHS auditing knowledge and experience at a program and site-level
  • Familiarity with FM Global program structure and deliverables
  • Strategic assurance program management across a global business structure (fixed and distributed)
  • Experience delivery EHS operating management system requirements and support key stakeholders in their associated roles and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of EHS core programs and requirements (regulatory and conformance)
  • Able to coach and support key influencers to drive EHS compliance and the reduction of risk through team engagement and help develop an organizational culture that prioritizes EHS.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and drive change and interact cross-functionally
  • Confidently able to facilitate and deliver training and or presentations to a diverse audience
  • Ability to influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal in a distributed global business structure
  • Field experience in a project / services environment, practical experience in risk management
  • High energy, self-starter
  • Related EHS expertise outside of primary responsibility, for example, Occupational Safety or Sustainability
  • Trained to Global Wind Organization (GWO) basic safety standard
  • Additional language skills

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% of the time
  • Remote and/or located in Madrid, Spain, Schenectady, NY or Greenville, SC

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,100.00 and $188,500.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
