Job Description Summary

Systems Engineering ist eine funktionsübergreifende technische Disziplin, die sich auf einen Ansatz, eine Denkweise und einen Prozess konzentriert. Alle Tätigkeiten, die sowohl die geschäftlichen als auch die technischen Anforderungen der Kunden berücksichtigen, mit dem Ziel, ein Qualitätsprodukt bereitzustellen, das die Anforderungen der Benutzer erfüllt. Die Disziplin zur Umsetzung eines soliden Prozesses zum Entwerfen, Erstellen und Optimieren von Systemen, der aus der Identifizierung und Quantifizierung von Systemanforderungen, der Erstellung alternativer Systementwurfskonzepte, der Durchführung von Design-Trade-off-Studien, der Auswahl und Implementierung der besten Entwürfe und der Überprüfung der Tatsache besteht, dass das Design ordnungsgemäß integriert ist und ausgeführt wird. Prozess, der vom Konzept über die Produktion bis zum Betrieb verläuft.

Job Description

As a Distributed Control System Design Engineer, you will:

  • Design and manage instrumentation and control (I&C) systems: Develop engineering solutions, apply control theory, and create simulation models.
  • Prepare designs for nuclear safety and operational systems: Including reactor protection, augmented quality assurance, process instrumentation, and balance of plant systems.
  • Execute design projects through all phases: From conceptual to detailed design, using digital tools and rigorous configuration management.
  • Select and integrate I&C hardware and software: Ensuring functional, performance, reliability, and security goals.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines: To achieve RAM targets using FMEA, PRA, and related methods.
  • Support regulatory licensing and procurement: Oversee supplier development and compliance with standards.
  • Manage supplier testing and integration: Review and approve test plans, procedures, and reports (FAT, SAT, etc.).
  • Build and maintain relationships: With project management, A/E, EPC partners, and suppliers.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and schedule: Deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction: Support LEAN initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship: Promote a strong nuclear safety culture.

Requirements:

  • Technical Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Computer Science/Technology, Systems), or related field (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics).
  • Extensive Industry Experience: ideally within heavy industries, high-risk or high-standards industries (nuclear, power, oil & gas, etc.).
  • Design Documentation Expertise: creating system design requirements, specifications, and documentation using digital tools (drawings, databases, etc.).
  • Diagramming and Modeling Proficiency: developing diagrams (functional block, logic, wiring, etc.) and physics-based simulations.
  • Standards Compliance: Working experience with IEC 60xxx/61xxx/62xxx OR IEEE standards (603, 7-4.3.2, etc.).
  • Safety-Critical I&C Experience: Proven experience in design, application, or field engineering of safety-significant I&C systems.
  • Dynamic Simulation Experience with digital tools for physics-based process control algorithm development and simulation.
  • PLC/DCS Experience: application or field engineering of mid-tier PLC or top-tier DCS systems.

Desired Experience:

  • Nuclear I&C Expertise: Experience with nuclear analog and digital I&C, safety systems, and related processes (CRD, RBM, EQ testing, etc.).
  • Nuclear Regulatory Experience: Familiarity with nuclear regulatory affairs, design certification, and licensing (US NRC or international standards).
  • Advanced DCS/PLC Experience: Hands-on experience with deploying and supporting complex, high-reliability DCS/PLC systems (GE Mark-VIe, Westinghouse CommonQ, etc.).
  • Digital Engineering Tool Proficiency: Experience with modern digital engineering tools for content creation, requirements management, simulation, and configuration management (Confluence, DOORS-NextGen, Simulink, etc.).
  • Strong Analytical and Decision-Making Skills: Clear thinking, detail-oriented, and able to make sound, timely decisions.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Exceptional technical writing and strong verbal communication abilities.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to take ownership, plan, prioritize, and manage projects effectively.
  • Proactive and Results-Oriented: Self-starter with a positive attitude and a track record of delivering quality results.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Improvement: Willingness to learn, adapt, and implement process improvements.
  • Lean/Agile and Quality Improvement Skills: Working knowledge of Agile, LEAN, DMAIC, DFSS, FMEA, and related methodologies.
