Job Description Summary

GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime, and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives, and control technologies.

Job Description

We’re seeking a Power Systems Technical Support Engineer to join our world-class team. You'll provide technical support at MW-scale for Industrial and Marine Power Systems.  You will engage with customers and the local engineering teams to provide technical support for current and legacy platforms.

Core Responsibilities

  • Use your experience in Power Systems design and practical hands-on experience through supporting Power Systems commissioning activities.
  • Take ownership of technical issues and drive through to conclusion.
  • Have customer facing experience, be a good communicator and well organised.
  • Be able to handle multiple ongoing activities in parallel.
  • Support lessons learned and feed back into design standards.
  • Ensure recommendations, solutions and advice are technically compliant, and safe.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide timely solutions to customers.
  • Engage with wider engineering teams where necessary, to develop your technical knowledge and experience.
  • Provide Power Systems application support & technical guidance to customers and to our commercial and site teams.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant subject, or relevant industrial experience.
  • Working towards or hold IEng or CEng qualification.
  • Willing to travel within UK and overseas for short-term working.

Desired Characteristics

  • Holistic knowledge of Power Systems (HV & LV), including alternators, grounding systems, switchboards, protection relays, AVRs, transformers, power electronic converters, etc.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Able to establish good relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential for site and customer visits.

You can expect from us:

  • Challenging and exciting projects.

  • A work environment where we understand that not everyone has the same expectations about their jobs, careers, and work-life balance, and we are happy to discuss flexibility requirements.

  • Attractive compensation.

  • Flexible benefits so you can build a package that fits your personal needs. Some core benefits are: Employer pension contribution (not subject to individual contribution), Income protection, Private Health Insurance, and Life Assurance.

  • 26 days vacation + bank holidays.

  • Career progression opportunities along multiple paths within a large and varied organization.

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
