Job Description Summary

The Tooling Technician I (WFO Pr) will be responsible for all operations associated with fulfilling requests and receiving returning orders for Wind Turbine tooling from the North America Tool Center as well as facility daily upkeep and maintenance of tooling. This individual will be responsible for inventory control, build out of tool orders & tool kits, receiving operations, as well as material handling and logistics coordination for tooling to/from the Tool Center.

Job Description

Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized work area at all times.

Be responsible for basic (visual, electrical, & mechanical inspections) operations checks and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, & hydraulic tooling and lift equipment which is primarily used in wind turbine installation, maintenance, and repair.  

Provide excellent customer service, detailed inventory control, on time shipping and receiving of wind turbine installation, service and repair tools at the Central Wind Logistics Center

Use expertise and a systematic approach to a problem solving in order to effectively identify and solve equipment electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic problems within the Tooling Center.  

Perform operations checks, minor preventative maintenance/repairs, inspections on wind-specific industrial tooling. 
Example:  Lifting devices, hydraulic & electrical torque, mechanical tools, mechanical and electrical measuring devices.  

Actively prepare all logistical requirements processing tool orders, shipping and returns, using established inventory control systems & procedures in support of North America.

Assembly and/or inventory of tooling kits with detailed documentation to ensure receipt by commissioning & services personnel.

Learn and execute international customs and all other import/export shipment of tools.

Analyze and recommend spare tooling/part inventory levels, organize stock for orderly storage, and monitor availability.  

Update/maintain Maximo inventory/asset management system per established processes.  

Performs purchasing functions to include sourcing & bidding, application or GE savings practices, and purchase order creation.  
 

*High School Diploma or GED, AND
*Internal; 2+ years work experience as a Wind Technician, OR
*External; 2+ years of comparable work experience as a Wind Technician, OR
*Associates Degree or 2yr Technical Degree from an accredited college, university, or technical college; with 4yrs of hydaulic, electrical, mechanical work experience; OR
*Internal; Associates Degree or 2yr Technical Degree from an accredited college, university, or technical college; with 6yrs of applicable warehouse experience; and relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic processes; OR

 

Ability and willingness to obtain a Forklift Certification

Ability to learn and use an inventory control program

Handle repetitive weight up to 45lbs (w/out assist), +45lbs (w/assist)

Ability and willingness to support the operation on off hours and seven days a week as required.

Ability to work within a team environment, asking questions, and providing feedback as needed.  


 

Ability to strictly follow GE inventory processes and procedures as directed, preferably experience with Maximo

Wind turbine installation and maintenance experience

Ability and willingness to interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.

Ability to work with a variety of personnel at all levels at the Tool Center, suppliers, and Wind Sites

Heavy Lift Equipment familiarity, Crane, Rigging, below the hook lifting equipment technical knowledge.

Prior tool maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, or distribution experience.

Working understanding of the operation, maintenance, or repair of modern industrial electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical tooling / or heavy lift equipment and lifting devices.  

Safety focused inventory control experience.  

High degree of customer service and a sense of urgency for tools fulfillment to customers.

Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision.

Working understanding of Microsoft applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, BOX, and Smartsheet.

The hourly pay range for this position ranges from $28.77-$45.17/hour depending on experience, qualifications, and position level (Tech I or Tech II) The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity
