•As a SVO engineer, you will perform system value optimization work, deliver loads and cosims, prepare certification documentation, support method/standard work development, and develop the loads toolchain.
Job Description Summary
•The vision of the SVO- New Products team is to create robust but cost-effective wind turbine product designs by providing best-in-class system value optimization, load assessment, validation, methods, and tools.•As a SVO engineer, you will perform system value optimization work, deliver loads and cosims, prepare certification documentation, support method/standard work development, and develop the loads toolchain.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform system value optimization
- Help perform system value optimization work, making tradeoffs in the loads, stability, operation, and performance of the product
- Help perform feasibility studies and develop tech charts
- Deliver NPI/DTO loads
- Prepare loads inputs, create the simulation model, execute loads simulations, and perform post processing
- Perform basic operability checks and frequency domain stability checks
- Hand off model and controller parameters to MLA
- Update load envelopes
- Prepare load certification docs
- Prepare certification load packages and documentation
- Help address questions from certification bodies
- Deliver cosims
- Prepare co-simulation for validation activities for prototype and fleet leader validation
- Help resolve gaps seen between simulations and field measurement.
- Develop methods and standard work
- Help develop advancements in load methods
- Help develop DP and standard work updates
- Develop loads tool chain
- Help develop improvements to the pre and post processing toolchain (excludes One Wind tools)
- Overarching
- Help prepare design reviews
- Help prepare technical underwriting documents to support design reviews
- Help assess risk and develop mitigation strategies
- Help update loads DFMEA
- Support lean and industrialization initiatives
Qualification/Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering from accredited university (or equivalent)
Desired Characteristics
- Technical awareness about preparing loads for wind turbines
- Problem solving skills for complex problems
- Software development skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, clarity of thought, and ability to defend a technical position
- Master of Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering
- GE Renewable Energy Edison Engineer
- Completion of Corporate required training for the Edison Engineering Development Program
- Strong candidate identified
