Job Description Summary

GTE Combustion NPI Design Team looks for and Lead Design Engineer with experience in gas turbine combustion mechanical design. The tasks you will be responsible for include mechanical design of combustion components, improvement of existing products, root cause analyzes (RCA) support, support of production processes, preparation of combustion system and component testing, customer support, cooperation with various organizations at the local and global level. You will be responsible for preparation of timely high quality mechanical design and accurate documentation of the design process.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design and development of assigned components in Combustion Module considering cost, operability, and reliability;
  • Participate in planning and execution of laboratory/field testing of combustion systems to validate combustor performance
  • Lead assigned tasks/projects with minimal guidance
  • On-time completion of NPI reviews as well as deliver on analytical work
  • Effectively work within Combustion Module and with partnering organizations: Product Definition, Customer Service Engineering, Design Liason Engineering, Systems, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Chiefs Office to assure component design in line with requirements
  • Effectively document engineering work results and present them in formal and informal reviews, document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • On-time support for partnering organizations in manufacturing, sourcing, and fleet support
  • Take an active role in the continuous improvement of processes and activities
  • Implementing plans to achieve technical requirements, prepare schedules, coordinate teams providing sub-analyses or other inputs
  • Planning the scope of activities in the assigned area, monitoring and effectively communicating projects status, issues and significant developments.
  • Using multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions
  • Understanding the impact of the work performed on the company's goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in engineering design processes, engineering and design rigor, modeling, mechanical & structural analyses
  • Understanding of mechanics, dynamics and strength of materials
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods, preferably used in combustion systems space
  • Proven technical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously under time pressure
  • MS/BSc in Combustion/Mechanical Engineering, or similar, with strong & meaningful professional engineering experience in mechanical design of combustor components
  • Good knowledge of engineering tools such as Ansys & UG and practical experience
  • Good understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret and create engineering drawings & BoMs
  • Must be independent engineer that executes with minimum guidance
  • Fluent level of written and spoken English language
  • Significant relevant engineering work experience
