Description de l'emploi

Job Description Summary

Become part of a winning team and help to deliver the Green Energy transition.

Join GE Vernova’s rapidly growing Grid Automation business and play a key role in developing the next generation of advanced energy-control products. As a PCB Prototype Technician, you will bring complex electronic designs to life — producing high-quality PCB assemblies, supporting new product introduction (NPI), and ensuring our prototypes meet the highest IPC standards.

This is a hands-on, technical role suited to candidates with electronics assembly, PCB manufacturing, SMT, or similar production experience. You'll work with cutting-edge equipment, collaborate closely with design engineers, and contribute directly to the development of innovative clean-energy technologies.

Applicants must be able to work 2 shift rotations when required.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

Prototype PCB Assembly & Production

  • Build high-quality PCB assemblies (SMT & Through-Hole) from engineering specifications, drawings, and BOMs.

  • Carry out hand-assembly, rework, soldering, and component placement to IPC Class 3 standards.

  • Use SMT equipment including Pick-and-Place machines, stencil printers, reflow ovens, DI cleaning systems and inspection tools (manual & automated).

Inspection, Testing & Quality

  • Inspect assemblies and components for compliance with critical characteristics.

  • Conduct PCB rework and repair activities when required.

  • Perform basic PCB testing; Flying Probe experience is an advantage.

Support to Engineering & NPI

  • Provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly processes to improve design and build quality.

  • Undertake design-for-assembly (DFA) and design-for-test (DFT) assessments during prototype builds.

  • Assist engineers with early-stage product build issues and propose solutions.

Production Operations

  • Use the production management system to track work, materials, and process steps.

  • Follow all production, quality, and health & safety procedures.

  • Complete daily/weekly equipment checks and routine maintenance.

  • Maintain a clean, organised work area to 5S and GE standards.

What You’ll Bring

Technical Skills & Experience

We are specifically looking for candidates with experience in at least one of the following:
✔ PCB assembly (SMT or Through-Hole)
✔ Electronics manufacturing
✔ PCB rework/soldering
✔ Operating SMT machinery (Pick & Place, printers, reflow ovens)
✔ PCB inspection (visual, AOI, microscope work)

Experience in electronics manufacturing is preferred; however, full training will be provided.

Core Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality workmanship

  • Ability to follow technical drawings, assembly instructions, and component specifications

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-tech production environment

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Good communication skills and reliable timekeeping
