L'ingénierie des systèmes est une discipline d'ingénierie interfonctionnelle axée sur une approche, un état d'esprit et un processus. Toutes les activités qui tiennent compte des besoins à la fois commerciaux et techniques des clients dans le but de fournir un produit de qualité qui réponde aux besoins des utilisateurs. Discipline qui exécute un processus robuste de conception, de création et d’optimisation de systèmes, comprenant l’identification et la quantification des exigences système, la création de concepts de conception de système alternatifs, la réalisation d’études commerciales de conception, la sélection et la mise en œuvre des meilleures conceptions et la vérification que la conception est correctement intégrée et exécutée. Processus allant du concept à l'exploitation en passant par la production.
Exerce un impact sur les approches, projets et programmes du domaine fonctionnel ou de l'organisation et des méthodes de travail affectées. Influe sur la qualité, l'efficacité et l'efficience de sa propre équipe. Contribue significativement à l'élaboration des priorités. Se fonde sur des pratiques et des politiques professionnelles façonnées par le rôle. Le rôle dispose d'une autonomie modérée, nécessitant un haut niveau de discernement opérationnel.

Ready for a new, exciting career opportunity, you will report directly to the Naval Engineering Leader, collaborating with a diverse engineering and business community.

Working in a class-leading, multi-disciplinary team of engineers you will bring your expertise in Integrated Logistics Support and In-Service Support of military equipment, ideally with knowledge of relevant military standards, class rules and regulatory requirements. 

As part of this role, you will support various projects, producing Integrated Support Plans and deliverables, as well as supporting and conducting ILS analysis, including FMEA/FMECA, Reliability (MTBF, etc.), RCM, LoRA, Spares, Obsolescence, DRACAS/FRACAS and Disposal.

You will have responsibility for the following activities:

  • Supporting and delivering ILS aspects across various projects to ensure a consistency of approach across the business.
  • Capturing and analysis of ILS requirements for new projects.

  • Supporting the project teams and our suppliers, by providing ILS knowledge  skills and techniques to produce our customer ILS deliverables, to include but not be limited to;
  • ILS Plans
  • Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M)
  • FMEA and FMECA
  • Maintenance Plans & Job Cards
  • Logistic Information Management and Technical Data
  • Recommended Spares and Special Tools and Test Equipment (ST&TE)
  • Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation (PHS&T)
  • Disposal Planning
  • Obsolescence Management
  • Supporting other ILS activities such as Training Needs Analysis development and the development of technical publications with their associated ILS deliverables.
  • Working with the wider engineering team in support of Safety Hazard Identification and Safety and Risk Management.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of a degree or equivalent qualification, or higher, for example Masters or PhD in a relevant field or equivalent level of experience.
  • A level of demonstrable ILS knowledge and experience, ideally within the Defence sector, with the UK Royal Navy or other Naval customers.
  • Knowledge of standards for supportability and related specifications
  • Holds, or be eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to a minimum of BPSS level and ideally to SC level.

Desired characteristics

  • Knowledge of military and/or defence standards.
  • Experience of In-Service Support of Military equipment
  • Experience of S1000D (Tech Docs) and S2000M (Material Management).
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered (or working to) or equivalent with a recognised institution, with a proven record of continuous professional development.
  • Knowledge of classification rules, e.g. DNV, ABS, Lloyds for marine.
  • Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict timescales, excellent communication skills, good report writing skills, well organised.
  • Hold a UK Driving Licence and be willing to travel within base country and overseas for short-term working.
  • Knowledge of ILS Tools and Software.
