Job Description Summary

The Services- Senior Software Solutions Architect serves as the Architect and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GRIDOS-based SCADA solutions, providing technical leadership across mission-critical grid software platforms.
This role owns the end-to-end architecture, modernization, and technical governance for the services solution implementations as
•GRIDOS SCADA Applications
•Extensible Front-End Processor (FEP)
The architect drives scalability, reliability, security, and engineering excellence to support real-time electric grid operations for global utility customers

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Own the end-to-end solution architecture for GRIDOS-based SCADA applications, from requirements definition through deployment and lifecycle support.
  • Act as the technical authority and escalation point for complex design, performance, and production issues.
  • Lead architecture and solution design for the Extensible FEP, including protocol strategy, integration patterns, performance optimization, and fault tolerance.

Platform & Application Design

  • Define and maintain reference architectures, design standards, coding guidelines, and best practices for GRIDOS services implementations.
  • Guide teams in designing and delivering SCADA capabilities for services solutions, including:
    • Real-time telemetry ingestion and processing
    • Supervisory control and command handling workflows
    • Alarms, events, historian integration, and operational displays
    • Role-based access control, auditability, and operational safety mechanisms

Non-Functional Excellence

  • Drive non-functional requirements across solutions, including:
    • High availability and disaster recovery
    • Low-latency, high-throughput performance
    • Cybersecurity, compliance, and operational resilience
  • Ensure architectures meet grid operational requirements and scale across development, test, and production environments.

Modernization & Engineering Excellence

  • Define and execute modernization strategies, including:
    • Performance tuning and refactoring
    • Modularization and platform extensibility
    • Automated testing and CI/CD readiness
  • Promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement across teams.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Operations to deliver roadmap objectives.
  • Lead technical design reviews and mentor senior and mid-level engineers.
  • Support customer-facing activities, including architecture discussions and technical workshops.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent.

Experience

  • 18+ years of relevant experience in:
    • Industrial automation systems
    • Transmission & Distribution (T&D) software applications
    • SCADA or real-time mission-critical systems
  • Proven experience in software architecture, solution design, and implementation for large-scale systems in a global environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with global utility customers, including leading or supporting:
    • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
    • Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with C++, Java, and/or Python
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Real-time systems and distributed architectures
    • Integration protocols and data ingestion patterns
    • High-availability and fault-tolerant system design

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with grid operations, EMS/DMS/SCADA platforms, or utility control centers
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge business, operational, and technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead architecture decisions in complex, regulated environments
  • Excellent communications and trouble shooting skills
