GE Vernova Canada, Inc. is seeking a Site Quality Specialist with a focus on materials management that will be responsible for supporting Construction & Commissioning (Site Installation) team for execution excellence on our hydropower division in the Niagara region.

GE Vernova Canada, Inc. and Ontario Power Generation have joined into a collaborative agreement to refurbish their two stations; Sir Adam Beck I and Sir Adam Beck II over the next 15 years. 

Sir Adam Beck 1 (SAB1) Generating Station is a ten (10) unit station located on the Niagara River. The units were placed in service during 1921 to 1930. Recent Overhauls began in 2009 with 3 units remaining as: G4, G6, G8 which is planned to be completed in this program.

Sir Adam Beck 2 (SAB2) Generating Station is a hydro power plant of sixteen (16) unit of 104.5 MW each located on the Niagara River. The units were placed in service during the years 1954 -1958. The Sir Adam Beck 2 Overhaul Refurbishment project will consist in refurbishing or replacing the major equipment and auxiliaries of all 16 units from 2025 to 2037.

Job description

In this site-based role, the selected person’s main responsibility will be to focus on managing parts as they arrive on site. Among the critical tasks are:

  • Promote a quality mindset on site.
  • Implement quality processes on site, including but not limited to:
    • Control and distribution of documents
    • Storage and preservation of materials
    • Traceability of materials
  • Support the preparation of documentation intended to protect GE in the event of third‑party claims.
  • Collect, verify, and organize quality records.
  • Manage all nonconformities detected on site related to received parts.
  • Support the proper recording of nonconformities as they occur.
  • Monitor and record the execution of corrective (curative) actions.
  • Support root cause analysis of nonconformities detected on site.
  • Lead or support the implementation of corrective actions on site.
  • Lead or support cross‑functional process improvements on site.
  • Maintain up to date inventory.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, or a similar technical field.
  • Strong rigor in quality control or construction processes.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work full time on SAB 1 and 2 projects at Niagara Falls.
  • Must have unrestricted Canadian work authorization.
  • Technical experience in the hydropower sector is a significant asset.
