Account Management Rotation
Justyn M.

For one of my rotations in the Commercial Development Program, I worked in an Account management role based in San Diego. Over the 6-month rotation, I had multiple in-person meetings with our customers and was able to learn a lot about the structure and mindset of utilities. I worked side-by-side with a Key Account Manager to map out which offerings across our portfolio that would be valuable to the utility customer. This included gaining knowledge of our competitors in the market and understanding what made GE’s offerings provide additional value.

During the rotation, I had the opportunity to see how various team members managed their account packages by working with the entire region team on other business initiatives. Additionally, I learned how we do business and forecast with varying sales avenues including resellers, representatives, and distributors. It was a great experience and enriched my CDP experience.

Risk Analyst Rotation
Alberto G.

For one of my rotations in the program, I was working as a Risk Analyst covering EMEA markets, focusing on the health of our long-term service agreements. This meant preparing and evaluating financial models reflecting how the planned maintenance of sites can generate both immediate cashflow and backlog, considering legal terms and conditions of the contract.

What I enjoyed the most of this rotation was the variety of tasks I was exposed to: from revising contracts, to modelling them properly, to interacting with engineering, to evaluating the performance guarantee we can offer, and getting feedback from legal and controllership. While such a role may sound overwhelming at first, the daily support I received made it one of the experiences I recommend the most to grow professionally in this industry.

A career at Phenom Foods Market is more than the work you do. impact on the community, your personal growth and team members.

Sam S.

In my second rotation, I worked as a Commercial Leader on the Commercial Operations team. Within Offshore Wind, Commercial Leaders are responsible for deals from their earliest stages of customer engagement all the way until the project is handed over to the execution team to build the wind farm.

This rotation showed me that even if you have the biggest and best technology, the deciding factor will be the value that the solution creates for our customer. The best part of working in Commercial Operations is that you get to work at the very forefront of the industry and this sentiment truly makes me feel like I am contributing to GE Vernova's mission of a greener and more sustainable energy future.

Evan Q.

For my second rotation I joined the EMEA Strategy & Operations team to redefine our long-term strategy for the German Market. With the German government announcing new measures to reach carbon-neutrality by 2045, the German energy sector will be undergoing significant changes over the coming years.

My goal was to define how these regulatory changes would impact our customers, analyze long-term market trends and interface with internal and external stakeholders to identify where GE Vernova Gas Power can provide its products and services to accelerate the decarbonization of Germany's energy system. What I enjoyed most about this rotation was the opportunity to contribute to GE Vernova’s strategy for a more sustainable future, while working with, and learning from, many highly experienced people within GE Vernova.

CDP provided me with diverse commercial experiences that made me a well-rounded commercial professional. It provided me with the opportunities to learn, take chances, experiment and build a cross-functional network of mentors. I have continued to leverage and grow my commercial and networking skills throughout my career, and I know that the CDP program was the foundation that made this possible.

I was blessed to start my career in GE in the CDP in 2008.
The diversity of challenges and tasks, the business & network exposure, the hands-on experience, all contributed to the strong foundation of skills and business acumen I have today. The CDP helped me build agility, resilience and a strong capacity to self-learn on the job, for any job, and drive positive impact where it matters.

Joining CDP was essential in my development from both a technical skills and networking standpoint. Till date I often remain in contact with either fellow CDP alumni or colleagues I had worked with in my four six-month rotations. I was fortunate enough to experience multiple energy businesses during my roles which is something I have continued to enjoy in my career. Very few companies allow you to, within the span of 2 years, work in the Nuclear, Wind, Solar and Gas industries each in a unique country with different responsibilities.  The best aspect of being a CDP is that you are expected to deliver in an environment that accepts mistakes given your relative inexperience in each role. All this coupled by a best-in-class training plan means there is really no doubt it is a privileged experience which would deliver high caliber employees for years to come.
