Specialist
Alejandra
During my specialist rotation with the talent acquisition (TA) team, I had the opportunity to work on a project that focused on developing standard hiring processes and practices. Using lean methodologies and tools, I assessed the current hiring process in partnership with HR and functional leaders. As part of this exercise, we evaluated the complexities that are introduced with a global workforce. I developed standard work and guides to make hiring intuitive for all parties and enhance the candidate experience. I also gained foundational TA skills by serving as a recruiter during my rotation. This helped me understand what it takes to attract top talent to GE Vernova. In this rotation, I broadened my HR functional knowledge and improved my communication and project management skills.
Employee Relations
Christian
In my employee relations rotation, I was the site HR Lead for the Richmond Service Center, where we offer Gas, Steam, and Generator repair services. I had the unique opportunity to lead all HR initiatives for both frontline and salaried employees at the manufacturing site, while having a seat at the table with plant leadership to influence decisions. My favorite part about this rotation was the variety of projects and tasks a site HR Lead experiences each day. One day I could be working on a sitewide total rewards project, while the next I am onboarding new hires. Through this experience, I strengthened my leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Generalist
Claudia
In my generalist rotation, I supported the global sourcing organization at GE Vernova Gas Power. Throughout this rotation I gained skills in organizational design, European labor negotiations, talent acquisition, and coaching. A key priority in my rotation was facilitating the annual performance review process for a global team of 500+ employees. I collaborated with HR Partners globally to outline and communicate the key actions leaders and employees needed to complete for timely and meaningful feedback discussions. I leveraged data to enable robust conversations related to employee and organizational performance. This helped me learn more about the critical skills employees must have to ensure a successful sourcing organization. This rotation reinforced the importance of learning the business and how HR can play a key role in meeting strategic business goals.

Participating in HRLP was an invaluable experience for me, both personally and professionally. By completing three unique assignments at three different locations, I became an inquisitive and confident HR professional. One of my most impactful HRLP memories was my rotation as a Labor Relations Specialist in Schenectady, NY. During this assignment, I helped prepare for the national contract negotiations that occur every four years and had the chance to lead the contract negotiations with a local union. This experience empowered me to pursue a role as an independent HR Leader at a manufacturing site after HRLP graduation. HRLP served as a foundation for me to develop skills that continue to support my growth and career aspirations with GE Vernova.

HRLP was an incredible experience where I gained skills that have been critical for my HR career journey both on and after completing the program. I quickly learned how to make impactful decisions, explain complex topics to others, and use data to inform and support my actions. While on HRLP, I had global projects that required quick action and effective communication skills. I learned the value of forming relationships and how to effectively speak to stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization. The diverse experiences I gained from HRLP ingrained in me a growth mindset, how to provide value for my business partners and team, and the confidence to jump into positions that continue to challenge me. I will carry these relationships and experiences throughout the rest of my career.
