Job Description Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for defining and improving work methods, standard times, tooling, and fixturing to support shop floor operations in an aeroderivative gas turbine repair environment. This role provides technical support to production teams and drives improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost. The position also supports the development of work instructions, repair methods, process documentation, tooling solutions, and PFMEA activities for disassembly, inspection, repair, and assembly operations.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
• Provide technical support to shop floor operations for disassembly, inspection, repair, and assembly of aeroderivative gas turbine components and engines.
• Define and improve work methods to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable shop processes.
• Establish and maintain standard times and labor hours for shop routings.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, procedures, and process documentation.
• Define tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements to support repair operations.
• Support tooling and fixture design, implementation, procurement, and lifecycle management.
• Analyze planned versus actual hours and shop KPIs to identify productivity improvement opportunities.
• Partner with Shop Operations, EHS, Quality, Product Engineering, Lean, Sourcing, and Finance to deliver compliant and effective manufacturing solutions.
• Support PFMEA development and maintenance for technical processes in collaboration with the Quality team.
• Support investment planning, budgeting, and cost tracking for tooling and shop support equipment.
• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, ergonomics, cycle time, and productivity.
Qualifications / Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical background; equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
• Experience in manufacturing, repair, or industrial engineering, preferably in aerospace, aviation, gas turbine, or other regulated industrial environments.
• Experience defining work methods, process documentation, and labor standards.
• Experience in tooling and fixture design or implementation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with CAD tools, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems such as Oracle.
• Ability to work effectively across functions and organizational levels.
• Fluency in Italian and English.
Desired Characteristics
• Experience in aeroderivative gas turbines, aircraft engines, or turbine repair/overhaul operations.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and PFMEA methodology.
• Familiarity with shop floor productivity and routing analysis.
• Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
