Job Description Summary

Within the L5 Component Repair Insourcing Program, the Engineer – Special Process will be responsible to support with the site special process with a focus of Welding, Brazing and Heat Treat. She/he will deal with technical specifications, purchase and industrialization of such technologies within the AAJV Global Shops Network.

Job Description

Short term, Special Process Engineer shall:

  • On the Job training and supporting other Special process Engineers with ongoing projects.

Long term, Special Process Engineer shall:

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for welding and heat treatment special processes for the AAJV L5 Global Shops Network.
  • Work with Special Process Engineers and Repair Engineers to implement new process throughout the AAJV Global Shop Network.

She/he will report to the Process Engineering Manager.

Essential Functions: 

  • Special process expert for the Mesagne site. Be a Technical reference point for all the special processes and NTI (new technology introduction).
  • Define Engineering Spec to purchase Equipment, as per routings defined by Repair Engineering.
  • Technical selection of Farm-out company (Mesagne and Avenza) to support business continuity plan and manage load peaks.
  • Technical selection/alignment of different Equipment suppliers.
  • Industrialization of everything connected with the NTI.
  • Writing and Maintaining of Operative Procedures for Special Process Operations.
  • Support Repair Engineers with repairs and special processes work instructions.
  • Support the roll-out and industrialization of L5 Special Process and Repairs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machining accuracy, efficiency, and overall quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or High-School Diploma with proven significant experience in welding, brazing and heat treatment; or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience with Welding, Brazing or Heat Treatment.
  • Fluency in English and Italian, in writing and speaking.
  • Capability and experience to work with local and remote resources, merging people from different locations as needed to close complex projects in due time.
  • Previous experience in technical selection of new equipment / Industrialization.

Desired Characteristics

  • Proven years of experience in component manufacturing or repair and overhaul environment with one or more of the following turbo-machinery: Aeroderivative gas turbine, Heavy Duty gas turbines.
  • Extensive experience within GE / BH repair business
  • Capability to prioritize business requirements and to efficiently manage assigned budgets.
  • Full availability to travel for business purposes world-wide (up to 20%)
  • The ability to train in Florence (Italy) and Avenza (Italy).
