Role Purpose

To lead and manage end-to-end warehouse operations with a “Safety First, Zero Harm” mindset, ensuring efficient material handling, inventory accuracy, and compliance for a high-value warehouse, while driving operational excellence through a large team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership (Top Priority)
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all warehouse operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies, PPE compliance, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments (JSA/HIRA).
  • Drive near-miss reporting, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure safe operation of MHEs (forklifts, reach trucks, etc.) and material stacking norms.
  • Collaborate with EHS team to continuously improve workplace safety standards.
  • Warehouse Operations Management
  • Lead inbound, storage, and outbound logistics for raw materials, consumables, and finished goods.
  • Ensure timely material availability to production lines without disruption.
  • Optimize space utilization, layout planning, and material flow.
  • Maintain FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable.
  • Monitor daily KPIs: throughput, picking accuracy, turnaround time, etc.
  • Inventory Control & Accuracy
  • Manage high value inventory with high accuracy standards.
  • Ensure cycle counting, physical verification, and reconciliation processes.
  • Drive root cause analysis for inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain system discipline in ERP/WMS (ORACLE, SAP, AXAPTA or equivalent).
  • Team & Contractor Management
  • Lead and supervise a large contractor workforce, including warehouse in-charges.
  • Ensure proper training, skill development, and performance monitoring.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Implement Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and visual management practices.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and productivity improvement.
  • Drive digitalization and automation initiatives in warehouse operations.
  • Standardize SOPs and ensure adherence.
  • Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, company, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits (internal & external).
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of critical and hazardous materials (if applicable).
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) / Safety incidents
  • Inventory accuracy (%)
  • On-time material availability to production
  • Warehouse productivity (units/hour or equivalent)
  • Audit compliance score
  • Space utilization efficiency

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Logistics / Operations
  • 10–12 years of experience in warehouse operations (manufacturing preferred)
  • Experience managing large teams (50+ manpower)
  • Strong exposure to ERP systems (SAP/WMS/ORACLE/AXAPTA)
  • Prior experience in heavy industry / wind / automotive / engineering sector preferred
