Job Description SummaryVernova Purpose
GE Vernova is accelerating the path to more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy, while helping our customers power economies and deliver the electricity that is vital to health, safety, security, and improved quality of life. Are you excited at the opportunity to electrify and decarbonize the world?
Job Description
What impact you’ll make:
Starting pay will be determined based on the applicant’s current South Carolina Wastewater License status.
Applicants without a license, regardless of current pay, will start at the Trainee rate (G24 / A17).
Pay increases will be tied to obtaining the required licenses and certifications through the State of South Carolina.
Due to current business needs, the extensive training required, and the length of time necessary to become certified in Wastewater Treatment, we will pursue a combination of internal promotions and external hiring. External candidates who already hold “Trainee” status through SC LLR will help us meet both current and future internal and external customer demands.
Applicants already registered as trainees will receive first consideration.
This is a Wastewater Treatment Operator Trainee position. The successful candidate must be committed to progressing through the certification levels (Trainee → D → C → B Operator).
Progression from one level to the next typically takes approximately one year.
Full progression from Trainee to “B” License (covering both physical/chemical and biological operations) is expected to take about five years.
Advancement depends on individual initiative, including completing required education, training, and successfully passing a series of State-administered exams (through SC Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation).
What you'll do:
Daily operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Facility
Management of hazardous waste systems
Inspection and operation of fire protection systems
Performance of other related duties as needed
Support team objectives and carry out tasks as directed by the Operations Leader
What you'll bring:
Priority consideration will be given to applicants with SC LLR Trainee documentation
Ability to pass all required testing through the SC Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation
Ability to successfully complete RCRA (hazardous waste) training
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Mechanical and electrical aptitude preferred
Internal candidates only:
Must meet minimum time-in-position requirements
Must have received a "Meets Expectations" or higher rating on the most recent performance appraisal
Must not have had disciplinary action within the past 12 months
In accordance with internal hiring policy, qualified internal candidates from the Greenville location will be given priority consideration before external applicants are reviewed.
Pay Rate: The pay for this position is $31.663 - $32.919. This position is also eligible for shift premium when you work on an off shift i.e. 2nd or 3rd shift. Plus $1.00 USD an hour on top of base pay. This posting is expected to close on March 30th, 2026.
