Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically driven Manufacturing Process Optimization Intern to join our operations team for Summer 2026. In this role, you will directly contribute to measurable cost reduction initiatives by conducting structured process audits, performing data-driven analyses, and leveraging modern AI platforms to identify and implement workflow improvements across manufacturing operations.This is a hands-on opportunity to make a real impact — working alongside engineers, operations managers, and data teams to drive efficiency and reduce waste.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Conduct process audits across selected manufacturing workflows to identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and cost drivers
Perform data collection and analysis using structured datasets to uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost reduction
Map and analyze end-to-end workflows, documenting current-state processes and identifying gaps versus best-practice standards
Utilize AI platforms and automation tools (provided by company) to prototype process improvements and automate repetitive tasks
Develop and present data-backed recommendations for process changes, supported by quantified cost savings projections
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost, cycle time, and process quality throughout the internship period
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
Expected graduation between December 2026 and May 2028
Demonstrated academic or project experience in data analysis, process mapping, or operations management
Proficiency in data tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerBI
Familiarity with or strong interest in AI and automation platforms for business process optimization
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted workflow tools or low-code/no-code automation platforms
Experience working with large datasets and building dashboards or reports
Shift: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm
This is a temporary position From May 4th-August 31st. Time can be flexible.
The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
