At Rotating Machines Rugby (RMR), we design and build some of the most technically advanced electrical rotating machinery in the world. We specialise in manufacturing large electrical rotating machinery: Motors and Generators, across a wide variety of industrial applications. Our motors are powering some of the most advance warships in the world, whilst our generators are decarbonising industry for a more sustainable future. The Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Team is a part of the RMR Engineering Department and consists of a team of Manufacturing Engineers, responsible for development and implementation of new innovative manufacturing technologies.
Job Description:
The Production Operative will be involved in mechanical fitting preparing and building machines for test, then dispatch. Main duties include:
- Frame preparation - fitting instrumentation, auxiliary box's and auxiliary wiring
- Sub assembly - assembling mains and neutral terminal boxes
- Bearing assembly
- Pipe fitting
- Machine alignment
- Overhead crane driving (training provided)
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work area in line with 5S standards
- Adherence to EHS and ensuring a safe working environment
Key skills/abilities:
- Previous experience of mechanical and electrical fitting
- Ability to work to drawings and schematics with complete accuracy, understanding geometric tolerances and key symbols
- Measuring various components to tight tolerances with micrometers, verniers, bore mics, DTI gauges
- Ability to work within a team, use own initiative to meet production targets and deadlines
- Available to work shifts, specifically late shift and flexible to support overtime as required
- Ability to work to instructions and quality standards, completing quality documentation
- A can-do forward thinking approach to tasks
- Previous experience of rotating machinery would be advantageous
