Job Description Summary
Early career Materials Engineer supporting failure analysis, materials characterization, manufacturing support, and supplier qualification activities for power generation equipment across the LATAM region, including aeroderivative and heavy duty gas turbine technologies, as well as steam turbines, generators, and plant support systems. The role operates under guidance of senior engineers.Job Description
Responsibilities
· Support failure analysis and root cause investigations for manufacturing, supplier, and field related issues across the LATAM region.
· Perform metallurgical and materials characterization using laboratory techniques under supervision.
· Assist in preparation of technical reports documenting analysis results and corrective actions.
· Provide materials engineering support to manufacturing and repair operations related to aeroderivative and heavy duty gas turbine technologies.
· Support supplier qualification and monitoring activities, including review of material certifications and process documentation.
· Participate in supplier assessments and audits alongside senior materials or quality engineers.
· Assist in planning and execution of material testing and characterization programs.
· Support quality improvement and corrective action activities using structured problem solving tools.
· Assist in creation, revision, and interpretation of material and process specifications.
· Collaborate with cross functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Engineering, and regional teams.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
· 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships, co ops, or academic projects accepted).
· Basic knowledge of metallurgy of steels and/or superalloys.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and material specifications.
Desired Qualifications
· Academic or internship experience with metallography, materials characterization, or mechanical testing.
· Exposure to manufacturing, repair, or supplier quality environments.
· Knowledge of basic root cause analysis and quality tools.
· English proficiency desirable.
· Strong analytical and communication skills.
