Job Description Summary

The In-vessel UT (IVUT) Field Engineer provides technical direction and oversight of NDE activities on nuclear power plant inspection projects. The Lead Field Engineer is responsible to support development of processes, techniques, and tooling to meet business needs. The main function of the IVUT Field Engineer is to support the execution of robotic UT inspections at nuclear utilities inside the reactor vessel. Additionally the Field Engineer supports repair of tooling and design and testing efforts of new tooling.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, scheduling, and delivery of GVH IVUT projects, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Provide task leadership, technical direction, and day-to-day coordination for work teams comprised of GVH personnel and contingent workers.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customer and vendors.
  • Represent GVH on commercial, technical, and compliance issues, working collaboratively within an integrated services team environment.
  • Support business activities including:
    • Development of inspection tooling and techniques.
    • Commercial Operations support.
    • Planning & Staffing.
    • Training and knowledge transfer.
  • Perform duties and complete assignments in accordance with GVH standards for integrity, safety, and quality.
  • Work effectively in field environments, including customer refueling outages and other critical operations.
  • Travel up to 70% of the time, domestically and internationally, to customer sites and other GVH locations as required.
  • This role has onsite requirements. Candidates for this position must be able to work onsite at the Wilmington NC service center.  

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree in a discipline related to mechatronics, robotics, or mechanical engineering
    OR a minimum of 6 years of leadership experience in a technical field.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb 10 flights of stairs twice per day.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and physical examination.
  • Ability to meet Fitness For Duty requirements and site security requirements to obtain unescorted access.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport for international travel.

Desired Characteristics

  • Extensive experience troubleshooting automated systems.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting pneumatic systems.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting electronic control systems.
  • Basic understanding of Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) internals.
  • Basic understanding of ultrasonic testing (UT) theory.
  • Demonstrated experience leading field teams during customer refueling outages or similar high‑stakes operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interface with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under high-stress conditions while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $78,800.00 and $131,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
