About the Role

The HVDC Commissioning Lead Engineer shall be responsible for testing and executing commissioning activities of various projects under execution, as per GEV Quality, Construction & Commissioning & EHS Process and guidelines and will be fully responsible for coordination with customer representatives to ensure client compliance & satisfaction as per the contract.

The position holder reports to the Regional Commissioning Team Leader disciplinary and on site to the Commissioning Manager.

The position requires 100% construction site presence during the execution phase. The HVDC sites are located in Europe as well as in Asia for the platform construction.

Due to the growth of our Grid business, we are currently looking for our next  HVDC Commissioning Lead Engineer (m/f/d) in the “Construction & Commissioning” function to participate in this energy transition for Central Europe.

About the Role

The HVDC Commissioning Lead Engineer shall be responsible for testing and executing commissioning activities of various projects under execution, as per GEV Quality, Construction & Commissioning & EHS Process and guidelines and will be fully responsible for coordination with customer representatives to ensure client compliance & satisfaction as per the contract.

The position requires 100% construction site presence during the execution phase. The HVDC sites are located in Europe as well as in Asia for the platform construction.

Mission description

  • Liaise with design office and PM team for timely issuance of data required for preparation of site works (specs, designs, BOQ, material lists, …)
  • Prepare Commissioning documentation like Program, Procedures, ITPs, Checklists etc.
  • Manage and follow up a specific scope of Commissioning within a large scale HVDC project, together with managing an international team of commissioning engineers.
  • Reporting on regular basis (daily and weekly) to the Site Commissioning Manager on site
  • Follow up daily commissioning activities on site and be the first point of contact for on site commissioning scope
  • Scheduling, preparing staffing plans, manage site team mobilization, and track actuals versus plan including budget & costs
  • Publish test reports and follow up completion of relevant quality documentation. Complying with the contract requirements and the project Quality Plan
  • Monitoring, recording and reporting of the given work progress
  • Ensure all Testing & Commissioning activities are performed in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

  • You will support our Commissioning Department with your expertise and will develop yourself with the state of the art technologies

What You Bring

  • Completed degree in electrical engineering, energy technology, or a comparable qualification.
  • Electrical Engineering qualification with minimum 5–8 years of experience, or equivalent background in Commissioning management.
  • Proven experience as a Commissioning Leader or Lead Commissioning Engineer on HVDC or large substation projects, or similar projects in Power Generation or the Oil & Gas business
  • Strong health and safety mindset aligned with international standards, with the ability to identify and stop unsafe work.
  • Knowledge in elements of electrical substations, and Commissioning of Electrical Power Stations or HVDC Systems.
  • Fluent in English, German and additional language skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to work on construction sites in Germany and abroad, and optional assignments on offshore platforms.
  • German driver's license class B, or equivalent from other countries valid for Germany
