Job Description Summary

The Business Developer, Power Stability & HVDC (Latin America) leads market development and deal origination for high voltage direct current and power stability solutions across the region. The role identifies and shapes opportunities with TSOs/DSOs, regulators, operators, utilities, developers, and strategic partners; tracks market trends and policy to influence demand and positioning; and develops regional go to market and marketing strategies. Connect with global stakeholders ; It evaluates and prioritizes opportunities in cross border interconnections, renewable integration, and system reinforcements, converting insights into qualified pipeline and competitive bids. Working closely with engineering, finance, legal, and commercial , the role builds techno commercial value cases, partnership models, and capture plans to achieve order intake, margin, and forecast targets while establishing the company as a trusted advisor in the LAM HVDC market.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create demand through executive workshops, discovery sessions, and assessments to structure pilots, budgets, and tenders.
  • Develop and manage relationships with TSOs/DSOs, regulators, utilities, IPPs, multilaterals, and strategic partners.
  • Lead regulatory engagement by influencing consultations, grid codes, market design, and stability services mechanisms.
  • Produce thought leadership and represent the company in technical forums and events (CIGRE, IEEE, and regional events).
  • Monitor market trends, public policies, and funding frameworks to prioritize opportunities in HVDC and grid stability.
  • Define regional go-to-market strategies, account plans, and opportunity pipeline prioritization.
  • Influence pre‑RFI/RFP requirements and build technical‑economic value cases and capture plans.
  • Coordinate system studies and solution architectures (HVDC, FACTS, grid‑forming) to deliver robust, bankable proposals.
  • Structure pilots, demonstrations, financing schemes, and partnerships with DFIs and multilateral organizations.
  • Track and report commercial and influence KPIs to continuously adjust strategy.
  • Define and execute competitive capture plans, ensuring clear differentiation versus competitors.
  • Own commercial results for bids, including forecasting, governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Lead ITO teams on large and complex tenders, coordinating internal teams, partners, and consortia.
  • Lead commercial and consortium negotiations from pre‑RFI phase through contract close.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of processes, operational metrics, integrity, EHS, and stakeholder communication.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Solid experience out of which at least half must be in a leadership position in sales,  tendering or operation.
  • Experience in Grid Solutions and Turnkey is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 40% plus.
  • Latin American market knowledge. Brazil, Mexico as a must
  • In-depth knowledge of HVDC systems: Line-Commutated Converter (LCC) and Voltage Source Converter (VSC).
  • Deep knowledge on Power stability, power compensation, FACTs technologies and grid codes;
  • Understanding of hybrid AC/DC transmission systems, filters, converters, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with IEC and IEEE standards applicable to HVDC and FACTs
  • Knowledge of energy regulation and markets (ANEEL, ONS, CREG, CENACE, CEN etc.).
  • Advanced english knowledge;
  • Advanced portuguese knowledge;

Desired Characteristics:

  • Significant & relevant experience in sales, commercial operations, risk or marketing
  • Effective oral and written communication in Portuguese,  English and Spanish
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Have a clear understanding of the commercial levers for contractual obligation (and how to manage them over the duration of the contract)
  • Ability to direct complex daily activity of multiple work streams, focused on issue resolution
  • A good understanding of contract management principles, the ability to manipulate and "shape" deals and formulate
  • Ability to form relationships that facilitates viable client solutions.
  • Negotiation of large-scale contracts (critical infrastructure).
  • Pipeline management and opportunity forecasting.
