Job Description Summary
GE Vernova, Grid Solutions Thailand is seeking a high‑potential Electrical Engineering Intern to support both primary and secondary engineering activities across real substation and power system projects. This role offers exposure to high‑voltage equipment, protection systems, engineering design packages, and project execution workflows. Interns will gain hands‑on experience, learn international engineering standards, and work alongside experienced engineers in a fast‑paced, professional environment.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Primary Engineering Support
• Assist in reviewing and preparing single‑line diagrams, equipment layouts, and general arrangement drawings.
• Support the preparation of technical data sheets for HV equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, CTs/VTs, surge arresters, disconnectors, and switchgear equipment.
• Help engineers verify electrical clearances, equipment ratings, and HV design parameters.
• Participate in cable routing, cable schedule preparation, and BOQ development.
• Review vendor drawings for primary equipment to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Secondary Engineering Support
• Assist with developing protection schematics, control wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
• Support relay setting data collection, coordination documentation, and basic electrical calculations (CT/VT ratios, burden checks, DC load calculations).
• Maintain documentation for protection philosophy, interlocking logic, and panel arrangements.
• Participate in reviewing protection & control equipment specifications from vendors.
General Engineering & Project Coordination
• Prepare comparison sheets for vendor quotations and technical offers.
• Attend internal and external project meetings, take notes, and update documentation.
• Support site data collection or verification activities when required.
• Maintain proper document control, revision tracking, and file updates.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams such as Civil, SCADA, and Procurement.
Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power, High Voltage, Energy, or related fields).
• 3rd-year or 4th-year students preferred.
• Basic understanding of power systems, substation components, and protection principles.
• Ability to read engineering drawings (SLD, layout, wiring diagrams).
• Familiarity with MS Office; basic AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills (Not Required but Advantageous)
• Knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards.
• Familiarity with substation design workflows.
• Experience with AutoCAD, ETAP, or engineering simulation tools.
• Understanding of tendering or technical evaluation processes.
