Are you a technical leader passionate about solving complex energy challenges? Do you want to play a key role in the transition to sustainable energy by modernizing critical industrial infrastructure? If you are looking for a role that bridges the gap between high-level engineering and commercial strategy, we invite you to join our Power Conversion team at GE Vernova in Rugby.Job Description
Your Role
As a Lead Application Engineer, you serve as the technical engine of our service business. You take the lead on modifications and upgrades for existing power systems, turning complex requirements into robust, sustainable solutions for industries like wind, mining, and oil & gas. You are the expert who guides our customers and internal teams through the entire lifecycle of a project—from the initial technical proposal to the final delivery.
What You Will Accomplish
• Design the Future: You lead the technical definition of service solutions, ensuring our upgrades meet the highest standards while supporting our customers' decarbonization goals.
• Win Through Expertise: You act as a primary technical authority, leading client engagements, technical negotiations, and presentations that secure business.
• Shape Commercial Strategy: You collaborate with sales and commercial teams to build competitive proposals, accurately assess risks, and define work scopes that make our projects successful.
• Drive Collaboration: You connect with global engineering, project management, and commissioning teams to ensure our solutions are technically sound and commercially viable.
• Mentor & Standardize: You champion continuous improvement by developing reusable solutions and sharing your expertise to help junior engineers grow their capabilities.
What You Bring
• Proven Engineering Expertise: You have substantial experience in application, systems, or hands-on industrial engineering. You possess a strong understanding of power systems, control systems, electrical drives, or rotating machines.
• Technical Proficiency: You are comfortable working with automation systems and logic controllers, and you are ready to lead technical discussions regarding system upgrades.
• Commercial Insight: You have experience owning or leading technical tenders and proposals, with a natural ability to balance technical specifications with business value.
• Leadership Mindset: You are a confident communicator who excels at managing stakeholders and influencing cross-functional teams to achieve a common goal.
• Qualifications: You hold an engineering degree or demonstrate equivalent significant experience in a relevant technical environment. You also possess an unrestricted Right to Work in the UK.
Note: As this role supports critical infrastructure, you will be required to undergo security vetting (such as UK BPSS or SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
What You Can Expect From Us
• Meaningful Impact: You work on critical projects that help global organizations achieve their energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
• Flexibility That Works for You: We understand that everyone’s needs are different. We support a hybrid working environment and are happy to discuss how we can accommodate your work-life balance requirements.
• Attractive Compensation: You receive a competitive salary and a comprehensive, flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your personal needs.
• Our Core Benefits: We provide a generous employer-funded pension (non-contributory), private health insurance, income protection, and life assurance.
• Time Off: You enjoy 26 days of vacation plus bank holidays.
