Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Lead systems and project engineering activities across power conversion and electrical systems projects
- Develop and review designs, specifications, and documentation for electrical systems, including:
- Generators, transformers, switchboards, converters, motors, energy storage, and cabling
- Ensure engineering outputs comply with health, safety, regulatory, and industry standards
- Act as the technical focal point, coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Review electrical schematics and technical documentation for compliance and functionality
- Provide technical input to project planning, delivery, and customer solutions
- Support tendering and sales activities by providing engineering expertise
- Participate in design reviews, engineering forums, and organisational improvement initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering tools, processes, and systems
What You Bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering from a local or internationally recognised university. Those with a diploma coupled with relevant electrical and industry experience will be considered.
- 7–10 years’ experience in systems or electrical engineering within rail, power, utilities, or energy sectors
- Strong technical knowledge of power conversion and electrical systems across design, manufacturing, field engineering, or equipment lifecycle support
- Ability to read, write, and review technical specifications and engineering documentation
- Experience with systems engineering and assurance activities such as Safety in Design, HAZOP, FMECA, RAM, and Human Factors would be advantageous, but not necessary.
- Experience interpreting power system studies and design outputs, including SLDs, protection coordination, load flow, fault studies, harmonics, EMC, and cable sizing would be advantageous, but not necessary.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Customer‑focused mindset with commercial awareness
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
