Within Gas Turbine (GT) Product Service Engineering (PSE), our Fleet Engineering team’s mission is to keep the world’s lights on by diligently servicing our fleet of gas turbines, with an unwavering sense of quality, urgency, and innovation. Fleet Engineering closely bridges together Product Services and Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE) design teams.
The Lead Engineer will have technical ownership of select combustion technologies, including Annular and Silo combustors. They will help drive optimal solutions for our customers – with a focus on SAFER cases, Engineering Request (ER) Subcases, Services Nonconformances (NCR), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective & Preventative Actions (CAPA) redesigns, Fleet Leader Inspections (FLI), and Sales & customer upgrade (CM&U) support as needed. The Lead Engineer will leverage systems-level thinking & problem solving.

Job Description
What you'll do
- Provide technical guidance and peer mentoring to global engineers to promote technical accuracy, robustness, and conformance to design practice intent, in coordination with senior engineers and leaders.
- Lead or support responses to field issues and investigations, including ER subcases, SAFER cases, and service NCRs. Help drive closure of RCA and CAPA actions to committed dates. Execute FLIs and broadly share lessons learned.
- Perform calculations to manage operability risks and support RCAs and CAPA design changes.
- Support our Sales, CM&U, and ITR teams for customer upgrades and combustion sign off tasks
- Lead technical reviews with Controlled Title Holders (CTH) in accordance with New Product Introduction (NPI) and RCA processes; assess and mitigate component and system-level risks.
- Embrace and practice Lean and continuous improvement. Collaborate on standard work and identify creative ways to improve our processes and design methods.
- Develop partnerships with Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE) and design teams; stay current on New Technology Introduction (NTI) and NPI designs and their implementation.
- Support the planning and execution of lab tests, inspections, and materials evaluations; synthesize data into clear, decision-ready recommendations.
- Collaborate across Product Service, Field Services, Systems/Operability/Performance, Reliability, Heat Transfer, Design, Controls, Materials, Manufacturing/Supply Chain, Quality, CMPD, and Repair to contribute to integrated solutions.
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Mechanical Component.
- Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
- Relevant experience designing, servicing, or testing gas turbine hardware.
What will make you stand out (Desired Characteristics)
- Advanced engineering degree from an accredited university or college is a plus.
- Proficiency with ANSYS, NX, and other analytical tools, with a desire to continue deepening expertise.
- Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering definition.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, global environment; clear written and verbal communication.
- Growth mindset: humble, curious, open to feedback; comfortable shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Familiar with TOPS 8D or other Root Cause problem solving techniques.
