As a member of the Electrical & Electronics team at Advanced Research, you will be an active contributor to the advancement of technology in the areas of Electrification and Power Generation including Renewables.
Job Description
What you’ll do
As a Lead engineer, you will:
- Conduct power electronics research, including modeling, simulation, design, and testing of electrical components and systems.
- Simulate and analyze electrical systems involving power converters, transformers, filters, grid, electromechanical systems, renewable and conventional generation, and controls.
- Develop algorithms for power conversion systems, including control, monitoring, and diagnostics. Implement advanced electrical system controls in hardware and conduct hardware-in-the-loop tests.
- Lead programs to meet business objectives, manage execution, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure timely deliverables. Represent research through written and oral presentations to business customers and at technical conferences. Understand and collaborate on business requirements with GE Vernova product engineers and the Advanced Research team.
- Ensure quality outcomes, deliver projects within timelines and cost, and understand key business drivers and team integration. Work independently or with multidisciplinary teams, providing guidance to new team members.
- Propose solutions, use prior experience to solve tasks, and leverage technical skills and analytic thinking to solve problems.
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- Doctorate degree (PhD) in Power Electronics or related field with atleast 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree in Power Electronics or related field with at least 7 years of relevant industry experience in an advanced technology development environment designing, building and testing power electronics and controls
- Strong expertise in simulation and analysis of electrical systems and electro mechanical system
- Hands-on hardware design and build experience in power electronics systems experimental set-up
- Experience in Electrical system, Power electronic converters, grid integration and power converter and control for high frequency, high voltage and high power applications including Renewables
- Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environment with excellent communication and presentation skills and an unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments
What will make you stand out
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
- Experience in system simulation tools such as PLECS, PSCAD, Matlab/Simulink etc.
- Experience in FPGA, PCB design, power hardware development and testing, HVDC, C++, Visual Studio
- Understanding of Signal Processing
