As the ๐‹๐ž๐š๐ ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐š๐ ๐ž๐ซ, you will deliver state-of-the-art integrated power and propulsion solutions to our customers in the Marine business sector. You will oversee the execution of projects throughout the entire project lifecycle covering modifications and capability upgrades to marine vessels, from inquiry of order through installation to trials at sea. In this lead customer-facing position, you will play a key role in improving energy efficiency and the decarbonization of our customersโ€™ fleets.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Managing one or more projects for the Marine business unit concerned, ensuring contractual obligations are met on time and to budget.
  • Leading and coordinating a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver project objectives in a structured and efficient manner.
  • Being the primary Point of Contact for the customer on each project, building strong and effective relationships with customers.
  • Achieving a high level of customer satisfaction and serving as a basis for repeat business.
  • Interfacing with customers, internal stakeholders, and external suppliers as needed.
  • Managing the commercial, technical and quality issues on the project.
  • Creating, maintaining and driving progress against a project plan.
  • Guaranteeing timely and accurate customer billing and on-time cash collection.
  • Registering, compiling, submitting and negotiating extensions of time, extras to contract and other claims as appropriate
  • Carrying out project reviews to control projects, check progress, manage cost, identify deviations from plan, detect risk and forecast future performance
  • Applying best project management practices & complying with internal company processes, standards and procedures.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Basic education level completed (degree preferred but not mandatory if equivalent experience is demonstrated).
  • Proven experience in Project Management, Commercial, or Quantity Surveying roles, with a track record of delivering customer-facing, high-profile projects.
  • Strong financial control skills, including monitoring project hours, expenses, material costs, and budget management; ability to interpret SAP reports and assess project financial health.
  • Professional certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMI, PMQ, PMP, PRINCE2).
  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with external customers; commercially astute and skilled in negotiations.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills (MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships, motivate teams, and resolve issues proactively.
  • High sense of commitment, responsibility, and effective decision-making under pressure with resilience to dynamically evolving circumstances.
  • Ability to achieve national security vetting clearance to Security Check (SC) level.
  • Availability for short-term occasional domestic travel within the UK (e.g., customer sites, suppliers, Rugby office).
  • Full UK driving license.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of Marine/Naval markets.
  • Familiarity with contractual and legal aspects of projects.
  • Experience with procurement and supplier negotiations.
  • Competence in SAP software (training can be provided).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project software.

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
