Job Description Summary
The Lead Project Manager is responsible for managing outsourced engineering contracts, ensuring delivery performance, cost efficiency, resource utilization, and compliance with contractual obligations while maintaining alignment with Product Line objectives and SQDC targets.The successful candidate demonstrates clear and crisp communication, strong listening capabilities, and the ability to influence, decide, and drive execution in complex environments.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution & SQDC Performance
- Lead full project lifecycle (initiation to delivery) ensuring SQDC targets are consistently met.
- Write, review and follow-up Statement of Work with outsourced companies.
- Define and manage integrated project plans, milestones, and deliverables.
- Track performance through KPIs, dashboards, and operational reviews.
- Ensure predictable and reliable execution in line with GridBeats™ commitments.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Act as primary interface between R&D, Product Line, Operations, and leadership.
- Deliver concise, structured, and transparent communication at all levels.
- Influence stakeholders through data-driven insights and clear recommendations.
- Manage complex and sometimes conflicting priorities with professionalism.
Leadership, Soft Skills & Team Dynamics
- Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, software, hardware, product, operations).
- Create a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
- Engage and motivate teams in a matrix and multicultural context.
Risk, Issue & Decision Management
- Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate risks.
- Drive structured problem-solving approaches (fact-based, analytical).
- Ensure timely decision-making and escalation when required.
Cost & Financial Control
- Manage project financials (budget, forecasts, actuals).
- Ensure strong cost discipline aligned with business targets.
- Identify and drive cost optimization opportunities.
Continuous Improvement & PM Excellence
- Contribute to PMO best practices, tools, and methodologies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (PDCA mindset).
- Capture and disseminate lessons learned and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years in project management.
Eligibility Requirements
- Opportunity is designated for Markham, ON (Canada). This role is designated for a Hybrid schedule (4 days on location, 1 day off location).
Desired Characteristics
- 5+ years in project management.
- Proven experience delivering complex R&D or product development projects.
- Prior experience working with multidisciplinary environments (embedded software, hardware, systems engineering).
- PMP or equivalent certification.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Systems thinker and proactive problem-solver with continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong independent worker who knows when to escalate to senior leadership.
