Job Description Summary

The Lead Robotics and Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, industrializing, implementing, and supporting advanced robotic and automation systems for gas turbine manufacturing and repair operations globally. This role provides technical leadership in PLC programming, robotics, automation, simulation, and AI/ML-enabled manufacturing technologies. The position requires strong hands-on engineering expertise, cross-functional collaboration, project leadership, and the ability to train and mentor others while driving innovative automation solutions into production environments.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of solutions for identified challenges in gas turbine manufacturing and repair processes.
  • Develop, program, and implement industrial robotic and automation applications.
  • Develop robot simulation models and off-line programs supporting automation and new technology development.
  • Drive the industrialization and deployment of advanced robotics and automation systems into manufacturing environments.
  • Maintain deep technical knowledge of PLCs, robotics, programming platforms, automation systems, AI/ML tools, and associated process equipment.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology teams to execute projects and implement scalable solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to robot operators, engineers, and technical personnel through troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain and improve standards, and documentation.
  • Lead experimentation and validation efforts to develop robust, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Use skills in AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Automation to enable next-generation manufacturing technologies.
  • Maintain schedules for project and team deliverables, ensuring execution against milestones and commitments.
  • Communicate technical progress, risks, and recommendations clearly to all levels of the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in automation, preferably PLCs and robotics.

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands-on experience in robot operations, sensors, servo systems, and motion control systems
  • Programming experience in one or more industrial robot brands such as FANUC, ABB, or KUKA
  • Experience in off-line robot programming and simulation packages such as RoboGuide.
  • Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning tools
  • Process knowledge in robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing applications
  • CAD knowledge; NX preferred
  • Working knowledge of I/O, PLCs, and industrial bus communication
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Able and willing to travel globally up to 10%.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and experience with experimentation and root cause analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Familiarity with shop operations, manufacturing environments, and quality systems
  • Product knowledge of gas turbines / turbomachinery is a plus

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
