As the Lean Leader for Heavy Duty Services ITR Engineering, you will lead the deployment of Lean principles and the execution of continuous improvement initiatives across the Heavy Duty (HD) Services ITR Engineering organization. Working in partnership with the Global Services Engineering Business Operations, Quality & Lean Leader and HD Services ITR leadership, this role drives execution of the Engineering improvement roadmap, coaches leaders in Lean behaviors, facilitates Kaizen events and structured problem solving, and improves Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) performance.
This position serves as the embedded Lean practitioner for the HD Services ITR organization, partnering closely with Engineering leaders to transform business performance through Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, structured problem solving, and Kaizen execution. The role is responsible for translating strategic priorities into sustained operational improvements while developing Lean capability throughout the organization.

What impact you'll make

  • Serve as a strategic partner and coach to HD Services ITR Engineering leadership, supporting execution of the Engineering improvement roadmap and value stream priorities.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders to identify performance gaps and execute improvement initiatives that improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Productivity.
  • Drive the portfolio of Lean initiatives and Kaizen events aligned with Global Services Engineering priorities and the HD Services ITR roadmap.
  • Drive Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, Daily Management implementation, Leader Standard Work, Standard Work development, and other Lean activities across the organization.  
  • Coach leaders and teams in Lean principles, problem solving, visual management, and continuous improvement to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Facilitate Monthly Operating Reviews by preparing process performance, facilitating structured problem solving, and ensuring timely completion of improvement actions.  
  • Facilitate Problem Solving Reviews (PSRs), A3s, PDCA activities, and Root Cause Analysis to address operational performance gaps.
  • Partner with process owners to improve key operational metrics through structured Lean methods and data-driven decision making.
  • Track execution status, realized benefits, and sustainment of Lean initiatives while ensuring improvements are embedded into daily operations.
  • Champion the implementation and sustainment of standardized processes, Leader Standard Work, and Daily Management practices across the HD Services ITR organization.
  • Share successful Lean practices and lessons learned across Engineering organizations to accelerate adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Develop Lean capability throughout the organization through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on facilitation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in power plant engineering or related technologies.
  • Proven experience driving Lean deployment, continuous improvement, operational excellence, or business transformation initiatives.
  • Experience facilitating Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, Daily Management, and structured problem solving.
  • Proven ability to coach leaders and influence change within a matrixed engineering or operational environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate operational challenges into measurable improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple improvement initiatives while driving execution and sustaining results.

  • Deep Lean expertise with a track record of applying Lean principles in engineering, manufacturing, or service environments.
  • Experience coaching leaders in Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, and visual management.
  • Demonstrated success facilitating Kaizen events and driving measurable business improvements.
  • Practical experience with structured problem-solving methodologies including PDCA, A3, DMAIC, or TOPS 8D.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and build strong partnerships across engineering and business organizations.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to engage leaders at all levels.
  • Passion for developing Lean capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
