Job Description
This is a senior, hands-on mechanical role operating with a high degree of autonomy. The Mechanical Specialist serves as the site's primary mechanical expert, applying in-depth technical knowledge and analytical judgement to plan and execute mechanical projects and maintenance. Working within established GE Vernova policies, they are empowered to modify procedures and practices and to define local best practice, provided end results meet the required standards of quality, safety and timeliness. The role acts as a technical lead and mentor for less-experienced colleagues and requires awareness of industry best practice and market developments to inform decisions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Support and deliver on-site CAPEX projects as the mechanical expert.
Ensure activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to required standards.
Provide clear updates on progress, challenges, and key milestones.
Maintain accurate mechanical project documentation.
Serve as the point of contact between GE and external contractors for on-site mechanical work.
Ensure all contractor activities comply with GE standards and industry regulations.
Manage and monitor all lifting systems on-site.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and LEEA best practices.
Maintain robust procedures for lifting operations.
Lead mechanical maintenance and predictive maintenance programs.
Use condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, thermal imaging, etc.) to anticipate and prevent equipment failures.
Support the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies across mechanical systems.
Ensure all mechanical work follows site safety rules and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical support, coaching, and training to site teams and contractors.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
Use SAP for maintenance documentation and control
Perform mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance when needed.
Support urgent breakdowns to restore site operations efficiently.
Required Qualifications:
Solid experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or Equipment Maintenance
Minimum technical diploma (HNC level or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
Apprentice-trained or equivalent hands-on technical training
SAP experience required
