Job Description Summary

As the NAM/LAM GSI Engineering Hub Leader at QTC (Queretaro Technology Center), you will provide senior strategic, operational, and organizational leadership for a critical global engineering capability supporting Grid Solutions projects across North America and Latin America. In this role, you will be accountable not only for engineering hub performance, talent strategy, budget management, and delivery excellence, but also for shaping the long-term regional engineering footprint, capability roadmap, and integration with the broader global engineering network.

You will lead the evolution of the NAM/LAM GSI Engineering Hub into a high-performing, scalable, and globally competitive organization, ensuring strong alignment with business priorities, customer needs, and enterprise growth objectives. This includes driving transformation across operating model, talent pipeline, quality systems, digital tool adoption, and engineering standardization.
In this highly visible senior leadership role, you will partner closely with Worldwide Regional Engineering Leaders, Business Global Engineering leadership, regional business leaders, and the Queretaro Technology Center leadership team to define strategy, allocate resources across regions, strengthen engineering capability, and deliver consistent execution across substation, HVDC, and advanced grid infrastructure projects.

This position reports directly to the GEV Senior Director of Engineering, North America, with strong functional connectivity to the GEV GSI General Manager, Latin America, the Chief Technology Officer & General Manager, Queretaro Technology Center, and senior global engineering leadership.

Job Description

What you'll do

Enterprise & Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the multi-year vision, strategy, and operating model for the NAM/LAM GSI Engineering Hub, ensuring alignment with regional business growth plans and global engineering priorities.
  • Shape the hub as a strategic engineering center of excellence with differentiated capabilities across HV substations, HVDC, and complex grid infrastructure solutions.
  • Serve as a senior leader influencing the broader engineering strategy for the region, including footprint planning, capability investment, and cross-functional alignment with business and project execution goals.
  • Lead organizational design decisions to enable scale, resilience, succession planning, technical depth, and effective deployment of resources across a growing and increasingly complex project portfolio.

Business Leadership & Financial Accountability

  • Own the overall financial performance of the NAM/LAM GSI Engineering Hub, including annual operating plan, headcount planning, productivity, cost management, and investment prioritization.
  • Drive business cases for capability expansion, digital enablement, and strategic hiring to support long-term growth, competitiveness, and improved delivery performance.
  • Partner with business and project leadership to improve predictability, margin performance, engineering efficiency, and risk management across the project lifecycle.
  • Provide executive-level transparency on operational performance, financial outlook, resource constraints, and strategic priorities.

Organizational Leadership & Talent Strategy

  • Lead the continued build-out and maturation of the NAM/LAM GSI Engineering Hub as a premier engineering organization within Grid Solutions.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy covering workforce planning, leadership bench strength, succession planning, capability development, retention, and employee engagement.
  • Build a strong leadership team and management operating rhythm capable of sustaining growth, driving accountability, and enabling high team performance at scale.
  • Sponsor a culture of technical rigor, inclusion, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the organization continuously evolves critical competencies across both established and emerging domains, including layout, design integration, control and protection, auxiliary services, civil work interface, document control, electrical and mechanical calculations, BIM, cybersecurity, and other strategic growth areas.

Delivery Excellence & Global Engineering Integration

  • Lead engineering execution governance for the NAM/LAM GSI Engineering Hub to ensure high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective delivery across a diverse and complex regional portfolio.
  • Partner with Worldwide Regional Engineering Leaders to optimize resource sharing, prioritization, and global workload balancing, while resolving structural constraints and improving execution consistency.
  • Establish robust decision-making frameworks for insourcing, outsourcing, and capability placement to optimize speed, cost, quality, and strategic control.
  • Drive standardization, simplification, and scalability of engineering processes across regions and project types.
  • Ensure effective deployment and adoption of engineering, modeling, and project management tools in partnership with IT, regional stakeholders, and global engineering leadership.

Quality, Transformation & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion a culture of engineering excellence with strong governance, disciplined review processes, and consistent adherence to applicable ISO/IEC standards and the Engineering Management Handbook (EMH).
  • Lead transformation initiatives to improve first-pass yield, delivery predictability, productivity, and overall engineering effectiveness across the hub.
  • Own quality performance and Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) reduction strategy, ensuring robust corrective and preventive action systems and institutionalization of best practices across the engineering network.
  • Sponsor innovation and digitalization initiatives that improve design quality, execution speed, collaboration, and engineering knowledge reuse, particularly in advanced and high-value domains such as HVDC and HV substation engineering.

Executive Stakeholder Leadership

  • Serve as the senior engineering interface for the NAM/LAM GSI Engineering Hub with regional and global stakeholders, aligning expectations on priorities, capabilities, workloads, and delivery outcomes.
  • Provide regular executive updates on organization health, budget, quality, project performance, talent strategy, and strategic transformation initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted partner to regional business leaders and internal customers, helping shape solutions, clarify engineering strategies, and strengthen customer confidence.
  • Represent GSI engineering in regional leadership discussions and function as a senior technical and organizational voice for complex customer and business needs.

  

What you'll bring (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Master’s degree.
  • Significant engineering leadership experience in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environment within the T&D, Power Generation, or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multi-disciplinary engineering organizations in a global or matrixed environment.
  • Proven experience with organizational scaling, talent leadership, and driving operational transformation across engineering teams.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including budget ownership, productivity management, and engineering execution performance oversight.

  • Deep expertise in one or more engineering disciplines such as Civil Work, Plant Configuration, Control & Protection Hardware, System & Performance Studies, or Electrical Design, combined with broad systems-level understanding across grid infrastructure projects.
