Job Description Summary
The Process Quality Engineer (PQE) for Rotor plays a critical role in elevating both process and product quality by driving defect reduction across repair operations. This position demands close collaboration with salaried and hourly team members to embed quality principles throughout every stage of the repair process. In addition to leading process and product quality initiatives, this role will lead and manage the Rotor Quality Inspectors, who will report directly to the Lead PQE. The Lead PQE will provide day-to-day direction, coaching, workload prioritization, and oversight of inspection activities to ensure compliance, consistency, and operational excellence. To effectively support leadership, the PQE must cultivate deep expertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS), ensuring compliance while championing continuous improvement and operational excellence.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Fulfilment-5 Metrics: Operationalize and sustain quality metrics, including Web CRT compliance, RCA/RCI cycle, and CoPQ tracking, to ensure consistent quality standards are met.
- Zero Exception Culture: Promote and sustain a culture of "zero exceptions" in quality, ensuring operations comply with both regulatory and non-regulatory standards by engaging with shop floor operators regularly.
- QMS Compliance: Assist the operations team in operationalizing and ensuring adherence to QMS procedures specific to Rotor repair operations.
- Defect Reduction: Lead projects aimed at reducing defects and work collaboratively with EHS and Engineering teams to promptly address and resolve shop floor quality issues.
- On-Time Delivery: Facilitate on-time delivery by eliminating rework loops caused by quality issues affecting First Pass Yield (FPY).
- Quality Initiatives: Champion quality initiatives and projects focused on reducing the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) within the repair cell.
- 5S Lean Implementation: Promote and implement 5S Lean initiatives to enhance efficiency and organization within the repair cell.
- Audits and CAPA: Conduct assigned audits and develop effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) plans to address identified issues.
- Training Support: Support training activities for new employees or during job changes in compliance with the GEMTEC training verification process.
- Own all aspects of quality, including both quality assurance and quality control. This includes product and service quality, manufacturing process conformance, incoming goods inspection, product verification, and witness points.
- Maintain GEMTEC quality MOR inputs and cell bowler metrics.
- Support setup of new lean production lines and improve existing ones from a quality perspective.
- Ensure engineering designs and technical documentation are complete, accurate, and compliant with customer and end-user requirements.
- Lead QA/QC activities for the Rotor repair line.
- Lead, manage, and provide daily direction to Rotor Quality Inspectors, ensuring inspection activities are executed safely, consistently, and in compliance with quality requirements.
- Serve as the direct point of contact and first-line leader for Rotor Quality Inspectors, including work assignment, prioritization, coaching, performance feedback, and escalation support.
- Drive standardization of inspection practices, support inspector capability development, and ensure adequate coverage to meet production and quality objectives.
- Coordinate inspector activities with Operations, Engineering, and EHS to ensure alignment on priorities, quality issues, and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum 5 years in manufacturing/operations/quality environment
- Experience in process quality or QA/QC
- Active listening skills and effective English communication.

Desired Characteristics
- Master’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or a related technical field preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to work in challenging environments as needed.
- Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality management systems and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Commitment to achieving project goals and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Team player with effective cross-functional communication abilities.
- Six Sigma training is preferred
