Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of wind turbine drive train and repowering (DTR) projects. This role will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing projects from early planning and engineering through procurement, construction, turbine installation, commissioning, and project closeout.

The ideal candidate has experience managing complex renewable energy, wind, construction, or heavy industrial projects and is comfortable working across engineering, procurement, construction, turbine suppliers, contractors, utilities, and site stakeholders.

This is a highly collaborative, field-oriented position requiring approximately 30% travel to wind project sites, vendor locations, and other project-related destinations.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution of wind turbine repowering projects, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and closeout.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate project activities across engineering, construction, procurement, operations, environmental, permitting, finance, and commercial teams.
• Manage relationships with turbine OEMs, contractors, subcontractors, engineering, equipment suppliers, utilities, landowners, and other project stakeholders.
• Establish project milestones, deliverables, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
• Monitor project progress and proactively identify schedule, cost, quality, safety, and technical risks.
• Lead regular project meetings and provide clear status reporting to leadership and stakeholders.
• Manage change orders, scope changes, project risks, and commercial issues in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Coordinate major field activities including turbine decommissioning, component removal, civil and electrical upgrades, turbine installation, balance-of-plant work, and commissioning.
• Support logistics planning for major turbine components and specialized equipment.
• Ensure project execution complies with applicable safety, environmental, quality, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
• Work closely with site teams to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum.
• Coordinate commissioning, punch-list completion, turnover, and final project closeout.
• Capture lessons learned and incorporate best practices into future repowering projects.
• Travel approximately 30% to project sites and other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
• 5+ years of project management experience in wind energy, renewable energy, power generation, heavy construction, or a related industry.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30% and work periodically at active wind project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing complex, multidisciplinary projects from initiation through completion.
• Experience with construction, engineering, procurement, commissioning, or major equipment installation projects.
• Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, risk management, and change management.
• Experience working with contractors, OEMs, engineering , and other external partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
• Experience specifically with event driven repowering or life-extension projects.
• Experience with turbine OEMs and major wind turbine components.
• Experience with Oracle ERP, OTM logistics module and Airtable
• Knowledge of wind turbine electrical systems, balance-of-plant infrastructure, foundations, cranes, transportation, and site construction.
• Experience managing projects involving components delivery, removal and replacement.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
• Familiarity with utility-scale renewable energy permitting, interconnection, and grid requirements.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means delivering repowering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards. The Project Manager will serve as a central point of coordination between teams, field personnel, contractors, OEMs, and project stakeholders while ensuring that issues are identified and resolved before they impact project execution.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $91,400.00 and $152,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
