Job Description
Job Description Summary
Join GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions team as part of our Project Management group, focusing primarily on outbound logistics coordination while also supporting broader project activities. You’ll manage on‑site preparation and loading of large power transformers, acting as the key link between manufacturing, engineering, EHS and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant, on‑time dispatch. About 60% of your time will involve coordinating hauliers and factory dispatch; the remaining ~40% will support other project managers and assist with operational tasks and project close‑outs. This is a new role created to support our increased factory output. We’re looking for someone with foundational project‑management experience and a strong growth mindset—not a senior PM—to develop within the team.Job Description
As the Project Manager for Outbound Logistics, you will be the on‑site point of contact for haulers and internal teams, coordinating RAMS approval, permits to work, inductions and the crane/load plan through to factory gate handover. You will ensure consistency, safety and timing in the departure of our HVDC transformers from the factory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead factory dispatch: coordinate haulier activities, RAMS review/approval, permits, inductions, crane and loading plan; ensure EHS and engineering sign‑offs prior to dispatch.
- Own the on‑site schedule: align manufacturing readiness with contractor arrival (Tue/Wed) and loading/dispatch windows (Thu–Sat).
- Interface management: act as the primary contact between manufacturing, engineering, EHS, regional logistics and the haulier; ensure documentation and communications are timely and complete.
- Operational PM support (~40%): assist project managers on portfolio tasks (trackers, tools, reporting), and take ownership of selected project close‑outs.
- Process compliance: uphold company procedures during loading and handover; maintain accurate records and status reports.
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience in project coordination/management or logistics dispatch within a manufacturing/industrial environment (heavy lift/oversize experience beneficial).
- Proven on‑site coordination skills: RAMS, permits to work, safety inductions, and multi‑party interface management.
- Strong communication, organization and stakeholder management; confident working to tight dispatch windows.
- Proficiency with MS Office for trackers/reports; comfortable enforcing process compliance across a portfolio.
- Ability to work on‑site in Stafford; role is non‑hybrid and focused on factory operations.
Nice‑to‑Have:
- Experience coordinating hauliers or outbound logistics for large/complex equipment.
- Exposure to project close‑out activities and PM tools (e.g., trackers, schedules, ECN workflows).
- Familiarity with industrial lifting/crane operations and dispatch documentation requirements.
What We Offer:
- A pivotal on‑site role at the heart of factory operations and the energy transition—where your coordination ensures safe, punctual dispatch of mission‑critical equipment.
- Structured onboarding with a buddy PM, a four‑week plan and weekly follow‑up, plus access to tools and checklists to help you succeed.
- Opportunity to grow into broader project management responsibilities as you take on portfolio support and project close‑outs.
- Competitive salary, 26 days paid leave + 8 days bank holidays, annual bonus scheme, private medical care, income protection, flexible benefits package including employer pension contribution, and more.
