Job Description Summary

The Nuclear Fuel Engineer will make immediate contributions to BWR fuel reload licensing and cycle management in GNF-A Fuels Engineering while being technically mentored by a team of high-performing engineers. In this role, you will provide innovative licensing and design solutions that ensure high-quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines. Additionally, this position offers direct utility customer-facing opportunities through deliverables, collaboration, and training.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Apply analytical methods, procedures, and techniques to solve complex problems
  • Execute analysis and design calculations to support operating reactor cores in reload licensing and cycle management
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
    Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Maintain and/or exceed baseline project schedule and cost in the delivery of nuclear fuel reload engineering deliverables
  • Share information and promote open dialogue, including working effectively in a matrixed team environment
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with NRC rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
  • Partner with Commercial Account Managers (CAMs), interface with customer technical personnel, and manage reload projects across the Fuels organization
  • Engage in continuous professional development
     

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in engineering, physics, or another science field from an accredited university.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering
  • Experience with Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) technology
  • Experience with BWR core simulator and use of 3-Dimensional neutron kinetics codes
  • Programming experience with Python or C#
  • Detail oriented and accountable for results
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
