Job Description Summary

Job Description

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in the green energy transition? As a Senior ITO M&E Construction Engineer in our Electrification team, you help build the infrastructure that powers our world. Based in Stafford, you bring your expertise to our projects, ensuring that our high-voltage (HV) substations are constructed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Your Role in the Team

You join a collaborative team where you bridge the gap between technical planning and onsite execution. You take ownership of the electrical and mechanical (M&E) estimation and contracting processes, ensuring every project is set up for success from the tender phase through to delivery.

What you will accomplish:
  • Drive Project Success: You analyze customer specifications and engineering data to create accurate, reliable cost estimates and schedules for site setup and installation.
  • Lead Procurement: You prepare technical Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents and lead interactions with subcontractors, ensuring we partner with the right teams for every job.
  • Collaborate and Connect: You work closely with the tendering team, engineering, and site managers to integrate your plans into the broader project strategy.
  • Champion Safety and Quality: You are a key voice in Hazard Identification (HAZID) meetings and ensure that all onsite operations reflect our commitment to excellence and EHS standards.
  • Support Execution: Even after the tender phase, you provide ongoing technical support to site managers, helping to manage our supplier network and ensuring a seamless handover to project delivery.

What You Bring

We are looking for someone with a proactive, hands-on approach who values teamwork and clear communication. You don’t need to be perfect at everything—you just need the right foundation to grow with us.

  • Substantive experience in the construction of HV substations.
  • Technical Proficiency: You have a solid grasp of electrical engineering documentation, such as layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: You understand the application of CDM regulations and relevant UK standards for electrical works.
  • Safety Mindset: You prioritize health and safety in everything you do and have the training to back it up.
  • Communication: You write and speak clearly in English, allowing you to convey complex information effectively to both internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaboration: You thrive in a hybrid, multi-disciplinary environment and are comfortable traveling to project sites or subcontractor locations across Northern Europe.

While not essential, proficiency in additional European languages or experience with offshore platform installation work would be a fantastic asset.

Why Join Us?

At GE Vernova, we offer a supportive, inclusive environment where your contribution has a direct impact on the global transition to sustainable energy. You will enjoy a hybrid working arrangement that balances focus time with the collaboration needed to win as a team.
