Job Description Summary
The Service Site Manager is accountable for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the Willogoleche Wind Farm in South Australia. This leadership role manages a team of wind technicians and technical contractors, ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The manager is responsible for optimizing turbine performance and availability while serving as the key point of contact between corporate operations, the customer, contractors, and local stakeholders.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Act as the primary on-site representative and first point of contact between the customer and GE Vernova, maintaining strong and transparent stakeholder relationships
- Lead all day-to-day wind farm operations, including maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and fault response to maximise turbine uptime and performance
- Champion and enforce a strong safety-first culture, ensuring full compliance with EHS and quality standards, company policies, and local regulations
- Promote proactive hazard identification and reporting, and respond immediately to incidents with clear communication and effective corrective actions
- Supervise, coach, and develop site personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance
- Plan and coordinate workforce requirements to ensure the right resources are mobilised and fully equipped to meet operational needs
- Manage subcontractors and service partners in line with contractual requirements, ensuring safe and effective execution of all work scopes
- Ensure all personnel have access to the required tools, procedures, and resources to safely and efficiently perform their work
- Monitor turbine and site performance, productivity, and reporting in line with internal standards and contractual obligations
- Identify and anticipate operational and commercial risks, supporting actions to protect performance, profitability, and service delivery
- Coordinate with internal functions (engineering, finance, product quality, project teams) and external stakeholders to resolve issues and support site objectives
- Support site budgeting, resource management, and administrative requirements, ensuring accurate reporting and record keeping
- Represent GE Vernova with professionalism and integrity, managing time and resources effectively to deliver site goals and objectives
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant trade or tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field (e.g. Advanced Diploma, AQF III or equivalent), or equivalent industry experience
- Demonstrated experience in wind farm operations, service, or site management, with a strong background in mechanical or electrical systems
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing customer or site operations within a service environment
- Strong understanding of EHS requirements, ISO standards, and regulatory compliance within the renewable energy sector
- Relevant product training and EHS certifications
- Solid knowledge of renewable energy policies and applicable national/state regulations
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a consistent track record of high performance
- Strong customer focus with the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging across all levels
- Commercial and financial acumen, including an understanding of site performance, cost management, and reporting
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database systems
- Current Australian driver’s license
- Full working rights in Australia (Australian/New Zealand citizen or permanent resident)
Desired Characteristics
- Experience working with GE Vernova wind turbine generators (WTG) or similar OEM technology
- Background in power generation, ideally within wind or renewable energy environments
- Proven experience in site operations and maintenance leadership
- Strong safety-first mindset with a demonstrated commitment to HSE standards
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting within an operational environment
