Job Description Summary
As Sr Engineering Manager (m/f/d) – Electrical Component you are responsible for leading the electrical design team, manage the related budget, and drive continuous improvement in engineering processes. The role combines technical expertise in power transformers with leadership responsibilities in an international, cross-functional environment.You also plan and coordinate electrical design activities for customer projects, ensuring compliance with international standards, and validating design results through testing. You support tendering, participate in design reviews, and resolve technical issues using root cause analysis.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate technical resources for customer projects, including electrical calculations and winding design.
- Ensure compliance of all designs with relevant standards (ISO, IEC, IEEE) and internal procedures.
- Perform design verification and validate results against electrical test data.
- Support achievement of site engineering and project objectives.
- Participate in product and design reviews within cross-functional and factory environments.
- Provide technical support to tendering and sales engineering teams.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and resolve design-related issues.
- Lead and contribute to development projects and corporate engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate with suppliers and drive continuous improvement in design methods and processes.
- Manage and optimize the budget for the electrical design function, including process and interface improvements.
- Provide functional and disciplinary leadership of the electrical design team and represent the site in external technical committees.
- Ensure adherence to corporate standards and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in electrical engineering, including initial leadership exposure.
- Strong expertise in power transformers (electrical, mechanical, and thermal design aspects).
- Solid understanding of industrial engineering processes and product development.
- Experience in designing in compliance with customer requirements and international standards (e.g., IEC).
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and coordinate cross-functional activities.
- Strong organizational skills with a structured, proactive, and self-driven working style.
- High reliability in meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills in English (C1) and German (C1).
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of transformer standards, especially IEC 60076.
- Experience with transformer manufacturing processes.
- Interest in engineering tool development and design automation.
- Basic SAP knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with experience in international environments.
