Job Description Summary
As a Technical Leader within Combustion Module team, you will be responsible for leading multiple combustion NPI and Fleet projects with complete ownership. Your scope will span a diverse array of projects, including NTI/ NPIs, repair developments, MYA, P2V initiatives, RCAs and CAPAs, and broader Services and Supply Chain support. You will lead impactful engineering efforts, ranging from new component design and performance-focused redesigns to life evaluations, life extensions and recovery, and product cost-out assessments. Success in this role requires collaboration across a wide network, including Systems, Services, Product Management, Global Supply Chain, and the Component Design & Testing Teams. You will act as the technical focal, ensuring that the design meets all technical requirements. This role requires consistent application of sound engineering judgment to navigate trade-offs and drive technical decisions to ensure designs meet requirements. Beyond project delivery, you will serve as a mentor, actively teaching and developing technical skillsets to operate as a high performing team.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of the mechanical design and evaluation of Combustion NTI/NPI projects for various gas turbine engine using sound engineering practices and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Lead day-to-day execution of combustion mechanical design activities, providing technical oversight and team guidance to ensure deliverables are completed on time, meet quality standards, and comply with requirements across design release, procurement/fabrication, assembly, and testing.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to the team, ensuring design compliance throughout the entire lifecycle, including design release, procurement/fabrication, assembly, and testing.
- Partner Aero Operability, Aero Thermal design, accessories, controls and system teams to drive system-level optimization, align stakeholders, and ensure seamless project execution.
- Develop and execute the combustion mechanical design technology roadmap and related process improvements. Evaluate technical options, recommend the best path forward, and take ownership of implementation.
- Lead and contribute to formal and informal technical reviews, ensuring all design outputs are validated and engaging with Controlled Title Holders as required.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering quality, documentation, and model management. Identify gaps between analytical predictions and lab/field data to develop improved tools and design practices, while actively identifying opportunities to integrate and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance design efficiency and predictive accuracy
- Actively mentor team members in design tools, analysis methods, and optimization practices to foster a self-sufficient, high-performing technical team.
- Work closely with Aero Operability, Aero Thermal design, accessories, controls and system teams for system level optimization. Drive ideas/solutions with stake holder engagement and solve end customers issues/challenges.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in gas turbine engineering, power generation design, services, or testing.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s in Mechanical /Aerospace Engineering
- Strong technical experience in gas turbine or turbomachinery combustion systems.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and build rapport at all levels of a global organization.
Desired Characteristics
- Extensive experience with the GE Vernova Power product line and combustion systems; familiarity with gas power tollgate review processes.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex technical problems and resolve them using sound engineering principles.
- Proven track record in project planning and execution, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; effective at both facilitating discussions and presenting technical information.
- A self-starter with a strong customer-satisfaction mindset, a high orientation toward quality, and a commitment to mentoring and growing others.
- Proven ability to work effectively within diverse, cross-functional teams.
